Here is one of my favorite free services on the Intertubes. Jott allows you to convert your voice into text, sms, email and others.
Here is an example of how I use it:
Walking down the street the other day and saw this fly fishing shop. No pen, no paper, and a memory like a rusty trap. I called Jott from my cell phone and left a message with the name of the shop, phone number, and website which was all printed on the outside window. With in a minute all this information was being emailed to my inbox.
There are actually many more uses once you start using it. It is free and easy to setup. Check them out at http://jott.com.
I just found out that Jott is now out of Beta and becoming a pay service. It will now cost $3.95 a month to send jotts to vitalist (my online to do list). Although a great service, it isn't worth it for me. It's too bad because I really loved it and spread the word.
